So, what does the latest version of Finale have to offer to existing and new users? Are there enough new features and refinements to keep the loyalty of the current user base, and does the latest release offer that something extra that might encourage new adoptees? In With The New Sibelius itself has reached v8.5, PreSonus’s Notion is becoming an ever more attractive option at the mid-priced level, and Finale too continues to evolve.

Previewed in depth by Mark Wherry in SOS February 2017, this has been in development for a number of years and the team involved includes many of the original Sibelius developers. These two products were last reviewed in SOS in the July 2014 and December 2014 issues respectively, since when Steinberg have also released the hotly anticipated Dorico. While there are numerous software products that might appeal to the interested amateur (including some creditable iOS apps), two giants have, until recently, dominated the professional field: MakeMusic’s Finale and Avid’s Sibelius.

After either being shifted off of the main cast or never being a member of it to begin with, they may find it's the only position they can secure within the SNL cast. On the flip side, it might be a position that actors find themselves stuck in. For actors who have the skill of delivering those punchy one-liners with a deadpan expression, it's a great gig. The Weekend Update position could be one that actors take on for a while for several reasons. It's safe to say that once an actor becomes the Weekend Update host, it's a job they hold onto for a while. Meyers surpassed Fey towards the end of his run in 2012. Che has hosted a total of 147 episodes, which means it'll only take seven episodes before he surpasses Meyers' total of 154. Before Meyers held the title, Fey was the longest-running Weekend Update host with 117 episodes under her belt. Since Meyers left just ahead of Season 39's mid-season hiatus, Jost hadn't held the position for too long before Che joined him. Che ended up replacing Strong as the Weekend Update host at the top of Season 40. His co-host Michael Che is also on track to beat Meyers' record during this season. Jost replaced Meyers in 2014 and has been delivering SNL's Weekend Update ever since. Meyers stayed on for a total of eight years, leaving the show in 2014. Poehler left the position four years after she had started in 2008. Meyers started hosting Weekend Update in 2006 with co-host Poehler, who had joined just two years prior to him. His predecessor Meyers had hosted 154 episodes during his lengthy run. Saturday, October 23's episode of SNL, marked Jost's 155th episode of hosting Weekend Update. TheWrapconfirms that Jost now rightfully owns the title of longest-running Weekend Update host. The position has also been held by stars immersed in the comedy world today including Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Jimmy Fallon, Cecily Strong and more.
Some of SNL's legends of the past who have hosted the segment include Dan Akroyd, Jane Curtin, Bill Murray and Dennis Miller. Since then, SNL's Weekend Update's host position has been held by several notorious comedians. He was joined by SNL writer Herb Sargent.
The position was initially created by Chevy Chase in 1975.
Occasionally, the hosts are joined by zany guests, some of whom have become some of the most notorious characters in SNL's history. Two of the show's cast members serve as co-hosts who take turns either making punchlines based on current news or reading fake news inspired by current events. There are typically two hosts, but there has been just one before. Weekend Update is SNL's parody news segment. Colin Jost has officially surpassed Seth Meyers as Saturday Night Live's longest-running Weekend Update host.
